Fast and Easy Credit Repair Tips

Many times when you are struggling with bad credit it can seem like repairing it is a hopeless task. Fortunately there are steps you can take on your own to improve your credit rating.

The first thing you need to do is obtain a copy of your credit report from the three major credit-reporting bureaus Experian, Equifax and Trans Union. You are entitled to a free credit report once a year or within 60 days of being turned down for credit. Check over the reports and then send a letter disputing the ones that appear to have errors as well as the ones that are detrimental to your credit rating. The bureaus then have 30 days to investigate your dispute and either delete the accounts or verify them. If they cannot be verified the law states they must be deleted from your credit report. Many times the accounts get deleted almost immediately as they cannot always be verified.

If the accounts do come back verified respond with a request directly to the creditor asking for the name and number of the person that verified it along with a copy of your consent to open the account. If the information cannot be provided they are required by law to delete the account.

Another “quick fix” is refinancing. Many creditors allow this and not only does it reduce your monthly payment to a more manageable amount it also shows anyone that checks your credit that you are trying to satisfy your debts as well.
